I'm a few hundred miles away from the shack right now, but I think one of the
frequencies is 6.498 MHZ and maybe another is 13.510 MHZ. Over the past year they
seem to have cut back on the higher frequency channel use. They send
ID and frequency info every so often. On the hour they
send weather maps in FAX format (I've copied the maps with a little
AEA gadget and software on my PC...not as interesting as the TTY copy).
I've poked around the Internet to try to find out more, with no luck.
The station's ID is "CFH" (Canadian Forces Halifax).
About five years ago they appended a short message saying they were
going to shut down; they asked for "observation" reports and gave a fax number.
I sent them a short note and never heard anything back. Nothing happened.
Based upon the TTY reports, it looks like their target audience is
"maritime interests".
