Maybe the date can be determined from the two manuals - I'll look at mine at
home tonight. I don't have any idea if there was a Field Change to add
blowers to the early model.
Info and photos are on my web site
http://www.virhistory.com/navy/rtty-demod.htm
Summary -
AN/URA-8A (no blowers)
two CV-89 converters plus one CM-22/URR Comparator
manual NAVSHIPS 91278
AN/URA-8B (with blowers)
two CV-89A converters plus one CM-22A/URR Comparator
manual NAVSHIPS 91490
Note: AN/URA-8 is a different design, manuf. by RCA with different
mechanical/electrical layout but functionally interchangeable
two CV-60/URR converters plus one CM-14/URR Comparator
manual NAVSHIPS 91339
cheers,
Nick

Subject: [GreenKeys] Question about URA-8 A B
When did the Navy realize they had "messed up" and add the fans to the
URA-8s? All I'd ever seen were URA-8s with fans on the "back porch".
But they don't show them or mention them in the early manuals.
best regards...
