Ahh, thanks for making me laugh this morning! Maybe I'll try that five
year thing too.

Joe Satriani is coming to town a few days after my birthday -- that might
be a fun way to turn 50. Man that guy can play guitar. Last year I
snagged Bill Buzbee's idea for his "Laser Spirograph" for to give my (then
2nd-grade) cub scouts a laser light show on the wall, using a laser pointer
and two motors with slightly-angled mirrors and speed controls:

Cool patterns with the motors/mirrors, but I swapped out one motor and put
a speaker with a mirror on it instead -- the one motor spins the laser into
a circle on the wall, and the speaker modulates it with audio and turns the
whole thing into a circular oscilloscope display. Pretty frickin'
awesome. Why did I mention this? I forget. I must be tuning 50. Oh yeah
-- Joe Satriani's "Cool #9" was the song with the perfect bass modulation
(and great guitar licks) to really give a great display with the
laser. But I digress. Must be turning 50.

You guys remember Bill Buzbee, of HeavyMetal fame. And Magic-1. And all
the other stuff he manages to find time to crank out -- sheesh, Bill can
actually finish projects faster than I could sketch them on paper.

Bill -- you're turning 50 this year too, aren't you? Poor bastard.

What was the original question? I forget.
