    It depends on the loop :-)  Taking 60 mA for example and solving Ohm's 
Law for resistance gives:

    R = E/I = 120 Volts/.06 Amps = 2000 Ohms

    The loop must be less than 2000 Ohms or you will not be able to reach 60 
mA of current.

    Someone else will have to give a typical value for the resistance of a 
teletype.
