I'd like to thank everyone for some excellent suggestions on this part
of "the project".
Thanks to Steve Schlink - I now know where to find what appears to be
the right size and type of copper (refrigeration capillary tubing). It's
a bit small - but with modern wire sizes - should be able to make it
work (you'd also have to "tin" it - but that's not difficult).
I went with a different option, though - one that is fairly quick and
the wire is readily available here (and probably most places) - and
that's RG-174. Page five of "the project" details the steps for both
rebuilding the line filter - and replacing the pipes.
I was a bit surprised the line filter was bad - until I got into it and
found plain-old paper caps. Makes me wonder how many bad filters there
are "out there". Or did Teletype start using better quality parts in
later (and/or) military units? I also did a "Hmmmm" when I found the
diode across that coil was open. Since the coil is OK - I have to
believe the junction "just failed" as opposed to being "blown" by a
spike or such.
Again - Thanks for the many suggestions... .
best regards to all
