We had several printers at a couple of my Navy duty stations in the late 60's
that used dual layer paper rolls with a carbon sheet in the middle. If you hold the inner
layer and the carbon sheet down, flip the top sheet over once around the roll and
tear it off even with the carbon and the other sheet you end up with a roll with the carbon
sheet on top with two sheets of paper underneath. Many new guys were told that sometimes the rolls came messed up. Their job was to unroll all the paper, put the
carbon sheet back in the middle, and roll it back up. About the time they had a lot
of paper up and down the passageway with carbon black all over themselves someone
would innocently come by and show them the cure. Which was to hold the bottom
sheet of paper in place and flip the other sheet and the carbon around, tear them off
even, and presto chango the carbon paper is back in the middle where it belongs.

One time I was asked to get a set of falopian tubes for a radio, but when I said I would
have to leave the site and go back to base to get them, they gave up trying to trick me.
