I apologize for putting fuel on that fire. It won't happen again.
I too purchased a couple CL050A from eBay. Although I don't have
a solution for your HV keying problem, I did find the manual online
which helps figure out how to set the switches if you want to change
the DTE/DCE configuration on the RS232 side or select 20, 30 or 60mA loop,

Interestingly, mine came with coax attached to the loop side. Looks to
be RG62 class, 93ohm stuff. The Tx loop was shorted out with a jumper
and the coax was connected to the Rx loop-- suggesting some kind of
receive-only application.
