The Teletype code for the thing is GPE, and it was in the Model 14 section
of the catalog although it has nothing in common with Model 14 - probably
dates to the Model 12.  Yep, it takes DC, probably 600 ma or more.  In
early days if they didn't have DC commercial power they used a motor-
generator set.  Later used rectifiers - the same large one used in the
Model 19.  (You could of course measure the key-down resistance and
calculate the current draw.)

The other Teletype perforator is the rarely-seen DPE, which is just a
Model 19 keyboard with the keyboard signal generator left off.  Also
magnet driven.
