Hi gang,
After many hour studying the manual. I repaired the keyboard
(nut off space bar), the manual line feed control was jammed.
The automatic shut down after one minute war repaired (bad
uniuction transistor on elec. printed circuit module), and the
ribbon feed not moving. Then I put some grease on needed
parts.
There are still other things I must do, for one thing put a new
typewriter ribbon in. When I get all of that done I will probably
degrease the unit and put light weight oil where it is needed such
as the felts. And put a better grease than was used. The
grease is hardened in a few places.
I am thinking about putting Lithium grease instead of the dark
brown grease that was on it. Some say the Lithium stay where
you put it.
One problem I have is the Figures "H" Motor stop doesn't
work. The automatic motor stop works after one and a half
minutes.
If I remember correctly the original MITE TGC-14 hat a woven
wire (sort of like braided grounding wire) instead of fiberglass
cloth on the Lateral Control Belt on the UGC41. I wondered
when that time comes if I could use woven wire instead?
If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
James Tanton
