Larry - - - (And others who might be interested)

In order qualify to get a 1st Telegraph you have to have operated on
a ship or land station for a year.

2nd telegraph you have to pass two code tests, one features
successfully copying 16 five letter groups, and the other straight
text at 20 wpm.

The theory(?) or written portion is elements 1, 5, and 6. If you have
a General Radio telephone you don't need the element one, as you are
credited for that.

They use a question pool just like they do for amateur stuff.

There's around 180 questions in the element 5 pool, and about 630 in
the element 6 pool.

It's sometimes sad, as you go through the questions, in several cases
there is no right answer, but the fcc files you can down load do have
a designated answer for each question, and that is the right answer
on the test. Quite a few questions are sorta off the wall. Know your
Q signals.

The written is 50 questions from element five, and 100 from element
six.

Here's the link to the commercial question pools:

Here's a link to a site called FCCEXAMS.

http://www.fccexams.com/

For ten dollars you can subscribe to a year's source of all the exams
you will ever wanna take, runs 24/7, and no limit on how much you use
it.

Gotta get to the store.

73,

George - W7TTY
