[GreenKeys] various machines

As we have discussed many times, the 26 was built to be inexpensive.
A cost savings to the Bell System trying to expand their manual TWX
service.
Everything went fine until several machines missed their scheduled
routine maintenance. It was then discovered that the maintenance
costs far out paced the lower first cost.
The approach was a bit more cautious with the introduction of the
Model 32 and 33. The service recommendation was to not use them for
private line service and only for low to medium duty applications.
That being stated many of these machines wound up in roles where they
ran much more than what was initially intended. Usually on Bell
official services where technicians could keep an eye on them.
I once replaced a 19 ASR Dial TWX with a 33 ASR at Ball Brothers Glass
Co... the operator quit soon thereafter.
The design of the Model 28 started in about 1953 and many are still in
use. The same design was used with few modifications for the Model
29, 34, 35 and also was the basis for the Model 37... the last real
Teletype machine before the entrance of ink jet, dot matrix and chain
printers.
The model 38 was based on the Model 33 with features similar to the
37. The 37 would have been more successful if it had been released
sooner with a better keyboard and a more reliable reperforator, or
with a magnetic tape terminal.

I have only been learning about teletype since May of this year,
which started with a Kleinschmidt TT-4A. From what I have read and
heard lately, I was under the impression that the 15/19 was the
backbone of the industry for decades. And that the 28 was built to
run continuously with not much more than oil sevice. I heard
somewhere that the 26 was not built as well as the 15/19 or the 28
and therefore could not be expected to run continuously without some
maintenance.
I would like to hear from people with a wealth of experience, who
know these machines inside and out.
I also have a 33 and a 15/19, but have never even seen a 26 or 28.
