I guess I should weigh in on this topic.

First thing to consider is where the machines have been stored and how
long. If stored in an unheated building or worse, a barn, they will be
subject to the biggest detriments to 33 condition. Mice and rust. Mice being
the absolute worst disaster that can befall a 33. If they build a nest in
one, it is toast. Rust is the other thing that can lower the value
considerably. Also if they have been roughly handled or shipped UPS, the complete
machine is likely busted up inside and out.

The value in a 33 ASR lies after it has been completely restored and
someone is interested in buying it. The "as you find them" value is
negligible. $25 to $100 if you know the condition and if its a straight 33 ASR
friction feed machine with all the accessories (pedestal, chad box, copyholder
etc. I have acquired a couple that had nothing in the machine of value, not
even the covers which had been broken, pedestals rusted etc.

TWX and 33's without the standard UCC-6 interface unit and missing
accessories are the least in value. You have to modify them, find a UCC-6, find
the accessories, etc.

I have sold em on ebay for as little as $400 and some of you know the high
end when I was fortunate to be the seller of a 33 and a couple of
collectors got into a bidding war. The common range is $400 to $800 for a
completely restored one. I have also listed them with no buyers interested. Had
to re-list and lower my reserve price.

I hope the ones in Sharon are in decent shape and maybe a few straight
33's, not TWX, but dont want anyone to get their hopes up too much.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year to all.
