DO NOT store them with a rubber band around them!! I haven't yet begun
to restore hundreds of 8-bit tapes from an ASR-33 that were stored for 30
yrs with a rubber band keeping them rolled up. The rubber was dissolved
by the oil on the tapes and has glued, stained and otherwise made a huge
mess of these tapes.
I think I'd try to keep them rolled up these days with a bread tie
threaded through the center of the roll and crimped laterally across it
to hold down the loose end.
As far as boxes, these folks have some options,

including relatively inexpensive cardboard ones. The downside is the
minimum order quantity I suppose.
