How does the saying go - "if it sounds too good to be true, it
probably isn't"?

That's how all the scams go: people are greedy - like the famous
prince in Africa - that wants to share his millions of dollars with
you - if you'll just send him your bank account number...

Giving out one program - like Heavy Metal or ITTY - is one thing.
Some of us who do programming for ourselves like to share our work.
I wrote a program to be able to talk with my Ten-Tec ORION II that
I share for free.

But when someone offers a program that works with 150+ radios,
that we don't know and have never heard from before, well...

[Don't have any liquid in your mouth when you read the next bit]

I was selling a Porsche in the Autotrader. I was asking $56K.
I got an offer from a guy in China. He wanted the car and said
that he'd send me a check for $64K. (OK - what's wrong with this
picture?) I e-mailed back that I was asking $56K. He e-mailed back
that he had a check for a car deal that fell thru and he didn't want
to go back to the bank - so he would TRUST ME to send him the $8K
difference, and he'd have someone contact me to have the car shipped
to China...

I went to the bank and talked with the manager. I told him the
story. He was rolling on the ground. I e-mailed the guy "OK - sounds
like we got a deal! Let me tell you a little more about the car. It
has a 12-foot satellite dish on the roof so I can pick up all the
television stations, and where the engine WAS I put in a Ducane BBQ
Eddie Bauer addition so I could have tailgate parties at the fooseball
games. Also, I took out the factory bucket seats and replaced them with
REAL stainless steel buckets. You won't find many Porsches with REAL
bucket seats in them!" He responded: "Good - send me your bank account
number".

I e-mailed back to the guy "I'm sorry to report that the car was stolen
last night. The thief got in a high-speed car chase with the highway
patrol, lost control of the Porsche and hit a bridge doing around 800MPH.
The car is totaled and part of him is still stuck inside." He e-mailed back
"that's no problem - I want that car - please send your bank account number!"
