Hey Guys;
Boy - do I miss Heathkit! *SNIFF*
I got licensed as a Novice in 1968 and loved getting those
Heathkit catalogs in the mail.
Me 'n' the guy would cut out the pictures and put them together
to make our dream stations! :-)
Oh - I had a lot of:
STEP: 998 - plug power cord into wall socket. Set power switch to "ON".
STEP: 999 - tune for minimum smoke...
And I agree with the author's observation of overseas products that
are already built and cheaper than a kit - plus the instant gratification
factor.
I used to *HATE* Microsoft because of their junky software. Then, when
I started to do front-end tech support at HP and had to deal with the
American consumer, I came to appreciate how much effort went into the
human interface to the operating system for cretins that didn't want
to learn *ANYTHING* - they just want it to work *NOW* !!!
UE,
W6ESE - tony

| The school is concerned about your boy's math skills.
| Let's just say young Robert is no balloon scientist."
