Just an "on the street" observation. I use the standard SSB filter on a modern rig (2.1 or 2.3) for general use, then narrow to 1.8, 500 or even 250 cycle if needed. The lower you go, the harder to tune. All RTTY now, unless just listening to military, is 170 cycle (sorry, I'm old, hertz wasn't in my vocabulary too many years, hi), so I"m not concerned with 850 shift. No more RTTY signals than there are on the ham bands, you might as well be comfortable while tuning!!
