At one stage in the 70's our university (Southampton UK) ICL gained the
capability of a teletype interface, so you could do some stuff without a
hernia's worth of punch cards.   There were maybe 6 or 8 of these in the
annex to the mainframe room.  Someone discovered that keying in a certain
escape sequence initiated a core dump.  So when getting very bored it was
always diverting to hear a bank of line printers leap into overdrive...what
a naughty boy ;-)
