[GreenKeys] Shortcut method to remove platen?

I am getting ready to remove the platen on my model 20 RO printer to have it
sent off and reworked and was hoping someone here had a shortcut method of
removing it.  I was hoping to just loosen some screws on the platen itself
but looks like I'll have to remove the platen castings from the main chassis
and go from there.

I guess what I'm really not sure of here is does the platen shaft go all the
way through the platen core or does it screw to the platen core through a
flange on the end of the shaft?
