Boy, misery loves company on this one.
My Kenmore (built by Whirlpool) front loading washer does the same
thing. I persued a discussion about it with Sears and was told to
contact Whirlpool. Contacting them resulted in "we are prohibited
from discussing Kenmore products with Sears customers". Alrighty then.
That's a carefully orchestrated dance.
I've tried monster line filters and all sorts of techniques to kill it
and I have been unable to. It comes from the motor controller and is the
result of PWMing the motor for variable speed control. Apparently the
FCC looks the other way now on part 15 compliance for things like major
appliances.
You can imagine my excitement then when I discovered that my fancy new
high efficiency furnace... also with variable speed blower makes the
same or more hash all the way up through 2m. This junk comes out on all
the wires leaving the furnance-- power, thermostat cable, A/C control
cable... then, it's even on the gas pipe! Nice.
oh-- and then there are the halogen under-cabinet lights in the kitchen--
with "solid state transformer" and the Logitech/SlimDevices networked
music players which spew the hash from their VFD displays onto the
ethernet cabling running throughout the house.
I'm contemplating a big red MASTER switch in the shack which I can push
when I want to play radios and it will kill power to the entire rest of
the house whenever I want.
