That's been debated in several places (including some music lists,
etc.). Harvey "invented" (or at least patented) a type of "zoom spout"
(pat. 4,925,128 among others) that they have assigned to Norvey who then
bottle various oils under the "zoom spout" label. Some also mention
"turbine oil"; most all list non-detergent. One set of MSDS sheets noted
Phillips Petroleum as manufacturer, though again - another set doesn't
mention original source, just the specifics of the oil.
Several discussions mention 10wt. oil, but I've never seen that on an
"official" spec.
Not having heard back from the original makers of Teletype oil (in spite
of the nice lady assuring me they'd call), I've since gone with another
oil I have 40+ years experience with in another type of equipment.
Hammond organs require a particularly light oil that will not easily nor
quickly gum up - and it's readily (though a bit expensively) available
from Goff Professional. I use it in all light-duty areas (such as the
motor bearings, and the selector cams); 3-in-1 in less critical areas
(such as soaking the felts around slower moving parts, etc.) and Lucas
Red Grease for the bearings and slides. Doesn't have "that smell" but
it sure runs quiet...
