The stuff I have, going back some fourty years, reads on the label "Tape,
Waxed, Nylon" with a MilSpec number.

Not curmedgeonly enough for you?

My Wife uses sinew in her shoes and clothing.  I could just as easily switch
to that.  A few hundred thousand years back curmudgeonly enough?
