I don't know - save for the Nereus (Nereus never did any serious time at Guam) - I knew some people that might have done some "keel-haul" cleaning from time to time in Apra Harbor (we did sometimes water ski in the inner harbor - though we really weren't supposed to with boats in). I have in fact cleaned and restored to service stuff "accidently" slid off the deck of a boat in the harbor - including a Tektronix 545B o'scope... So that's not as far fetched as one might think.
Re: the Navy having "I don't have any reccollection of (fill in the
blank: Asbestos, benzine, carbontet, etc.) --- TenderTale wound up
giving "testimony" in the district Court of San Francisco many years ago
- because the Navy (supposedly) couldn't find the records of one of the
tender's yard overhaul, what yard and when... A sailor who was dying of
mesthelioma was just trying to get medical help and "the Navy" didn't
want to admit asbestos might be on Navy ships - or the possibility of
exposure on a ship in the yards with lagging, etc. being torn out all
over the ship....
Asbestos? Not in OUR Navy™
