The Model 33 ASR that became available to the world from Oregon was
delivered to the Museum of Communications in Seattle last night.
The machine is in beautiful condition, As close to new as one can
get.
Steve will not have much fun fixing it up are there seems to be
nothing to do to it, other than find a paper spindle, which was
missing, and find a solution for the print hammer cover.
The Print Hammer Cover looks nice, but the "fingernail" test shows it
to have turned to goo, as most of the original hammer covers have
done.
Teletype must not have had an engineer well-versed in plastics, hence
the problem with the 33 hammer covers, the 28/35 typing perf/reperf
tape print hammers, and the lousy foam they used for sound deadening
in the late production equipment.
Oh well....
