KPH and KSM always remind me of WAY, the Bell Coastal Comm Station for  
the Great Lakes.
I worked with a couple of engineers that had worked there in various  
capacities.
I must see if I can find any information on line regarding WAY.

For many years I held a restricted Radio Telephone Operators License
My "ships" call sign was WCY 3666.  The original application fee was  
$30.
When it came time to renew the fee had been raised to over $100.  so I  
gave up the license.
