Michael & the gang -

  The Tempest version will work fine for you.  It's main drawback is, as 
you say, it lacks a loop-current interface.  Some Tempest versions were 
intended to work with teletype multiplex systems and their receive 
filters are tunable down to 400 CPS -  I think that is the "LDO" version.
