Gil and others,

The frame holding those tape bits is a phtotgraphic contact printing  
frame.  The soft clothl you see behind the tapes holds a negative and  
printing paper in close contact.  The split you see in the cloth has a  
hinge behind it. The two sections of the back each have a spring latch  
to hold it tightly when exposing.  It looks like a 4 by 5 inch size.
