For a non-acidic method of rust removal, I have settled on the electrolytic 
process. It requires nothing more than a DC source. You can't ruin parts by 
leaving them in too long like acids, nor remove, embrittle or deform the 
metal like bead blasting.

I has the advantage of also removing accumulated grease, paint, and other 
gunk that will inhibit most other chemical methods.
