ITTY at ARRL Pacificon Convention.

The American Radio Relay League and the Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club
based
in Walnut Creek, California co-hosted the ARRL's Pacificon convention
October 15-18.

W7TTY was invited to provide a live teletype demonstration featuring ITTY,
and on Saturday, 16 October W7TTY gave a presentation on "Radioteletype -
The Mechanical Way".

A model 15KSR and a Model 28KSR were on display running ITTY's main
channel,
periodically alternating with the Autostart Channel.

Wayne LeTourneau, WB0CTE, and Tom Tillson, ITTY's Northeast Editor, kept
both channels flowing with the usual news items, and ran TTY pictures on
the
Autostart channel. Don House, ITTY's Political Pundit contributed as well.

The two machines running continuously were well received by those
attending
the convention. Many a person was heard to comment "I ran those things in
the Navy", "We used machines like that in the State Department", We had
those in Viet Nam" and so forth.

It was quite interesting to see how many people flipped the lids open just
to bend down and get a good whiff of "That Hot-Oil Smell".

A couple of GreenKeyers were there. Byron Cannon, W6QNE, and Larry
Laitenen,
W7JYJ, was there from Salem, Oregon.

On the way down before we got to San Ramon we stopped in El Sobrante and
met
Paul the Teletype Parts guy.

It took almost exactly 24 hours to drive home.

We keep lamenting "No more trips to California!!" But, who's to say????
