Tek-ni-KUL is spelled "technical" not tecnical.

Speed is 60 WPM, Shift is 170 cycles (An ancient notation but
technically more descriptive than Hertz).

Shift is upside-down compared to amateur RTTY, but the system is
set-up to emulate the professionals and that's how the professionals
do it.

Been comparing software/computerized tu's to the electrocom, and
performance is really a function of signal to noise ratio.

Electro-com was printing away very well on the 28 while MMTTY and
TrueTTY were having some fits.

Reversed the antennas Vertical and 40 meter Steppir dipole, and the
performance reversed.

Think I will set up a DOS machine and run RITTY on it and see how it
compares to the rest. RITTY is ported out to a comm port. Too bad
Brian got so pissed at the hams he quit releasing RITTY,and nowadays
I don't think he talks to many hams at all. .

Question for the group:

Has anyone any knowledge of MMTTY's Received side ever being ported
out to an RS-232 port???. Or perhaps TrueTTY??

Yes, the machines are ancient history, but that doesn't necessarily
mean they should be forgotten altogether. With a good antenna the 28
& Electrocom were doing about 90 percent, perhaps a little better.

I'd like to see the better noise performanced software stuff drive a
machine. I'd tweak Bill on it, but he's on his way to Bend, Oregon
so he could go to the Tumbleweed Painting Festival.

Looking forward to all of the signal reports we can get. They'll all
be forwarded to Mobile.

G'nite.

W7TTY
