I don't remember what chemical I used...some kind of paint thinner I think. Also used dental picks. The kind a dentist uses. I hooked onto globs and got into corners. The part with the hammars that beat on the paper are removable units. You can clean each of the many units individually with picks. A little patience will give you a really neat machine. lar
