Eric,
Most folks really want a 33ASR so they can sell it to a classic
computer person.
32ASRs come available regularly and the pricing is much better.
Most are former Western Union TELEX machines. and of course use "Baudot"
(ITA) code instead of ASCII.
Good advice you are giving here... Don K9TTY
I believe most people who are doing amateur RTTY are using 5-bit,
45.45 baud
machines such as the model 15 and 28 and others, rather than the 110
baud, 7
bit machines like the ASR33, simply because the vast majority of
amateur RTTY
is at 45.45 baud, 5 bit Baudot code. Of course, the majority of
amateur RTTY
operators are not using Teletype machines at all, but rather computers.
This isn't to say that you couldn't convert between the ASR33's 110
baud, 7 bit
code and the usual amateur RTTY code, but it might be easier to look
for a
machine that speaks it natively.
