The wooden base is stained pine, edges rounded with a bench router.
The brass edging is sheet brass bent in a sheet metal brake. The
brass corners are a standard hardware store item. The "glass" is
1/8" polycarbonate bent in a hot bender. Polycarbonate looks
like glass, but it's about as tough as aluminum.

It wasn't a tough job. The case I made last year for a Model
15 (http://www.aetherltd.com) was a much bigger job.

I'm impressed with how well the Model 14 is working. After
cleaning, de-rusting, more cleaning, oiling, minor repairs,
adjustment, and rust preventative, this machine from 1929 typed
for a full hour today with, as far as I can tell, no errors.
We're not even getting paper jams. Even that far back, Teletype
built good machinery.

All this gear will be at the Steampunk Exhibition in Santa
Clara, CA, next weekend, operated by young women in green
eyeshades and corsets. (http://www.steampunkexhibition.com).
Visitors can send messages in by texting from cell phones,
they're printed on the Model 15, and our messengers deliver them
around the convention. The Model 14 is used as a news ticker,
and we let visitors paw through the tape.

     Here's last year's operation:
