Regarding cleaning of Model 28 plastic keys...

An ultrasonic cleaner does a fine job, as long as you don't mind
removing the keys from the keyboard. Cleaning teletype keys with an
ultrasonic cleaner - the keys come out spotless after about five
minutes. All the mold from the keys is left floating in the cleaner
bath. Just wash the keys to get the detergent solution off them and let
'em dry. No hand work necessary and no abrasives necessary.

Buying an ultrasonic cleaner? Be sure to get one with a heater, it is
much more effective that way.

I have one from Harbor Freight and am real happy with it - it gets a
lot of use here:

HF sells 'ultrasonic cleaning powder' but you get a much better deal if
you just buy direct from Alconox:

The 4 lb. box will last you forever.
