[GreenKeys] 28ASR likes local FIGS, not line FIGS

Hi Gang - Recently I've dived back into the WU 28ASR that I first took
apart for cleaning 3-4 years ago (there are only a few leftover parts,
honest).

The typing unit prints everything OK in LINE TEST mode from the
keyboard and from the TD.
But from my FOX generator (AN/UGA-8), it doesn't seem to recognize FIGS.
It prints all the LTRS just fine with the rangefinder between 25 and
100, but I ain't got no FIGS

At the end of QBF it prints ...BACK 1234567890 from a test tape on the TD
But from the test generator it goes ...BACK QWERTYUIOP
Substituting my other typing unit (in a KSR) into the same test
generator loop gives  ...BACK 1234567890 - the way it spose to be.

I'm still a TTY newbie - is this a common problem? what should I look for?
The line polar relay doesn't like FIGS, but all other characters are OK?
