Greg and List.

In Australia the TT4 was the main TTY used in a portable role.
That is, non shelter mounted equipment. So a vehicle mounted TTY station
would have something like:
A suitable radio (PRC-47, GRC-106, C11/R210, Radio relay (B70) etc
TTY terminal eg AN/TCC-14 or 29
TTY machine AN/PGC-1. The TT4 was made by Kleinscmidt I suspect in the
1960s. $250 each is rather expensive I reckon.
Unless you really want the military PGC-1, I would suggest having a look
for a Siemens T100. Lots of them were used in OZ for Telex

I'd love a dollar for every time I set up and used this type of
equipment during my time in the Army RASigs!
I quote the RASigs Aid Memoire Sep 1968 for more details on the above:

AN/PGC-1: Teletypewriter Set. Portable station; TT-4 and Generator PU-181.
TT-4/TC: Teletypewriter. Manual keyboard, page printing; 60, 66, 100 wpm
requires 20 mA or 60 mA signal current; supply 115 V AC; part of AN/PGC-1.

AN/TCC-14: Telegraph Terminal. VF FSK telegraph transmission and
reception; consists of TH-5, TA-182, F98; speech plus simplex (with
break in) telegraph operation.
TH-5/TG: Telegraph Terminal. Part of AN/TCC-14; converts DC telegraph
signals to and from VF tones, 1325 Hz mark, 1225 Hz space; 2-wire
simplex or 4-wire duplex operation; output 20 mA neutral; supply 115 V AC.
TA-182/U: Signal Converter. Part of AN/TCC-14; 115 V AC.
F-98 U: Filter. Part of AN/TCC-14; separates voice and VF telegraph signals.

AN/TCC-29: Telegraph Terminal. As for AN/TCC-14 which it supersedes;
consists of TH-22, CV-425, F-316; speech plus duplex operation.
TH-22/TG: Telegraph Terminal. As for TH-5 but part of AN/TCC-29.
CV-425/U: Signal Converter. Converts 20 Hz signals to and from VF; part
of AN/TCC-29; supply 115 or 230 V AC.
F-316/U: Filter. As for F-98 but part of AN/TCC-29.

Hope all these gory details help. email me if you want some any other
details.
Dean
