I would have to agree with the others that $250.00 is quite a bit higher than the average for even a known working machine.  Maybe for the pair, and even then both would have to be in excellent working condition.

The "A" in the model number indicates that cotter pins were used to secure linkages versus the "E" rings of the later models.  A lot of the parts for the TT-4 are interchangeable for the later TT-98 and higher model numbers.

You mentioned that one machine had a cover and the other one didn't.  There were actually two "covers" on these machines.  One covered the main mechanical portion of the machine and the second cover actually enclosed the machine in a water tight container.  Which "cover" are you referring to in your statement?
