[GreenKeys] RTTY contest this weekend

[Teletypeparts]

Most glass RTTY "contesters" dont want to take the time to talk to a real teletype, but occasionally you will find one who will.  The first thing I say in a reply tape is that I am running a real TTY and need to go a little slower between exchanges and a CR and LF would be nice.

Well, Jeff, you're right!   We shouldn't be so hard on people with glass 
achines.   I think most of us realize that there simply aren't enough metal 
achines in existence to satisfy a demand.   And our reaction to this 
ituation should really be pity.   Most of today's RTTY enthusiasts will 
ever be able to experience the thrill of watching the antics that take 
lace in a "real" machine.   I also have a parallel situation where software 
efined radio is concerned.   I used to make the mistake of saying that SDR 
as "good" and enjoyable.   But after a while I got tired of fending off the 
ons of poop and big rocks that rained down on my head every time I made 
uch a statement.   But I still feel guilty at being able to enjoy that 
spect of ham radio knowing full well that a lot of other radio amateurs are 
imply missing something good and I wish they wouldn't be so adamant at 
nsisting that there is no place for a computer in the ham shack!
