Else where I had mentioned some PKS31 operators that
were working on WAM, Worked All Macros Award. Myself
I prefer a live keyboard type conversation. But back in the
early '70s I remember "brag tapes" and the really long
"picture" tapes as well. This is nothing new.
On "glass TTY" machines. Back in the mid '80s I wanted to
get back on RTTY. All I had was a HAL ST-6000 a Heathkit
HW-101 and a Commodore C-64. I wrote my own ASCII to
BASIC terminal program and ran RTTY that way for a couple
of years. Should I have been shunned then for not running
"real" Teletype gear?
If I were to find anything to complain about it would be
that the newer "stand alone" terminals adopted 200 Hz
shift as "close enough." Yeah, I know, you _can_ change
that in the PK-232, hardly anyone bothered.
What's next? Anyone running a keyer instead of straight
key?
