That fellow in the first picture looks remarkably like Albert Einstein. You don't suppose ... ???----------------------------------------------------------------------Message: 1Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2012 16:11:22 -0400From: Nick England <navy.radio at gmail.com>Subject: [GreenKeys] teletype at Steampunk ExpoTo: Greenkeys <greenkeys at mailman.qth.net>Message-ID:<CAB55hNdwFhHDb6u1LaXzDBE7u4rD1nNs+A=y0NsNdxX7FaxdQQ at mail.gmail.com>Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1Just for fun, I hauled out my 28KSR, 28TD, and 28LPR to a Steampunkconvention this AM.Had 'em all wired together so folks could punch up a tape, read itthrough the TD and see the results.I removed all the covers so they could see just what marvelousmechanical creations these machines are.No where near as fancy as John Nagle's excellent work<http://www.aetherltd.com/>, but folks had fun with it anyways.I made up a tape with Header, To, From, and Message fields and pausedthe TD after each field so that people could type in the appropriateinfo - then they were astounded when I pulled the resulting tape offthe reperf and ran it through the TD - gave the them tape as asouvenir. At other times I just ran a "Welcome to the Expo" message as a tapeloop out of the punch directly into the TD so they could see it allworking together. The display elicited a few "I remember those things" and many "Ididn't dream such a thing was actually possible!"http://www.navy-radio.com/misc/steam.htmcheers,Nick------------------------------
