[GreenKeys] Restoring an ASR33...

I recently picked up an ASR-33 to restore.  I thought I would share my
progress with the group and I have a few questions and need a few parts.

 

It seems to be in relitivly good shape. No sign of rust.  I cleaned it up
with compressed air and applied a little oil before powering it on.  The
hammer pad has been replaced with a piece of plastic hose, which seems to be
the preferred replacement suggested on the web.  It seems to print the
correct characters with a little fading on the right side of some
characters.  I removed the print head and cleaned it.  The typeset seems to
be sharp with no damaged letters.

 

The case had several cracks and breaks.  I removed and cleaned up several
repairs attempted by previous owners and I have been expirementing with
other repair methods.  I have found that PVC glue works well to "melt" the
joint together and I back it with fiberglass cloth with epoxy for extra
strength.  Seems to work well.

 

I believe these are supposed to have a felt pad in the bottom to soak up the
extra oil.  This unit doesn't have it.   Is it really necessary?

Platon knob

Punch cover with the four buttons

Front "T E L E T Y P E" label plate

 

I also need paper and paper tape.   I have been searching the web, but only
found one site selling by the case.   I don't want to invest several hundred
dollars when all I need is a couple rolls.
