HI Scott,
I would like to help but the cost of fuel and freight are quite
large. I just shipped a 28ASR from Illinois to Utah. It cost over
$400. even with a 79 percent discount on pick up and delivery.
Gasoline here in northern Illinois averages $3.90 a gallon and my
truck gets about 15-18 mpg. I will copy a friend that lives closer to
Indy to see if he is interested in saving the machine.
Thank you for trying to preserve the 19.
Best,

I'm trying to find a good home for a model 19, (5-bit BAUDOT, 60-
speed) teletype machine. It always worked well, but a water leak on a
higher floor from where it was stored rained down on it for several
days before being detected. It was fresh water at least, but still it
brought down a lot of dirt from within the walls and floor above.
Then the cleaning company that came in to clean up the mess carried
the machine out, and in the process, lost the "R" and "K" key caps.
The machine needs a deep cleaning, and there are little bits of rust
on many of the steel parts. But it looks restorable -- the motors and
pivots move easily (are not frozen), and except for the missing
keycaps, everything seems intact.
The machine consists of the model 15/19 base and printer, model 19
keyboard with paper tape punch and margin meter, and a paper tape
reader. I also have the metal table and 120VDC power supply for the
punch.
It's currently located in Indianapolis, but it needs to move from
where it is. I have the teletype and tape reader boxed up and I am
thinking of freighting it to San Jose, CA where I live, but I really
don't have a good place for it there. I would be willing to donate it
to someone who would try to restore it if they will help out with the
freight cost. Any interest?
Thanks,
Scott
