Also, check out the following site.  Dick Dillman is chief operator of  
the resurrected and active marine radio station at Point Reyes,  
California.  They have LOTS of equipment, and lots of BIG  
transmitters.  They use teletype between the transmitter and receiver  
sites as the "order wire" to send info, requests and orders for  
changes in frequencies and the like.
