Recently I've switched to using Western Electric patch cords with my
M28 gear. After a proper break-in period (RY's for at least 8 hours) I've
noticed much crisper letters with particularly well-formed numerals. Also
the chad produced by my reperf is more circular and of uniform size.
In addition, resoldering the connections in my CV-89A FSK converter with
Nassau solder gave me at least 10% more selector range adjustment
- of course I also switched to Telefunken tubes in the CV-89A so probably
that had some effect too.
I have also tried demagnetizing paper tapes before running them through my
TD, which has definitely improved bias distortion.
I'm always on the lookout for more helpful hints to improve teletype
performance - does anyone have experience with Monster Cable for 60ma loop
wiring?
Your friendly local teletypeophile,
Nick
