Just about every machine screw you could possibly need is available
from <http://www.boltdepot.com> and they ship very fast.
Of course you need to know what to order!

6-32, 8-32, and 10-32 should be readilly available at your local
hardware store. BUT, many of the screws used in teletype machines are
6-40, which can be difficult to find. However, 6-40 is a common size
used in gunsmithing and should be available at gun parts outfits like
Brownell's. 8-36 and 8-40 can be really tough to find.
You can verify that it is a 40 pitch thread by holding the thread
against the thread on a 4-40 screw which any hardware store should have.

#6-32 UNC and #8-32 UNC aren't "modern". They are the same "age" as
all of the UN fasteners. The screws commonly used on M14/15 do match
current common standards. They are common #6-40 UNF, #8-40UNF and
#10-32UNF. The six sizes (three UNF and three UNC) were all
standardized at the same time. Three of them, for no particular
practical reason other than maybe it's hard for some people to
remember three thread pitches, are more common today in the small
percentage of consumer goods still produced in this country.
