Sorry for the delay in sending an update, things have just been so hectic,
that I lose track of time.

 

Jerry is progressing slowly.  He is talking more, but still not eating, food
still nauseates him.  He is getting stronger  physically but his brain is
just not ready yet to go any further with attempts to stand or walk.  Both
of his therapists discharged him last week, but promised they would come
back as soon he is ready to go on.  

I think, at first, I saw him able to move and communicate and I thought
things would continue to progress quickly, but now I am beginning to
understand how much effort each of those things is for him.  Just a short
conversation completely drains him.  The brain does not repair itself
quickly. I guess I am beginning to understand how little I understand about
his illness and how difficult it is for him.

He hasn't been at his computer in weeks and watches very little tv.  They
both make him very dizzy and the noise causes him to become anxious after a
while.

Please don't think that this means you shouldn't visit or call, just expect
delays as he processes his words and after a short visit,  he may just go to
sleep.  He is in there and he needs his friends and family to help him come
back to us.

Thank you for your emails and calls and thanks to Joanne, Paul, Sue and
Harvey and to Larry and Carol for the cards.  He is still reading and
enjoying each and every one of them.

 

The kids and I have been working hard to get the Rosedale home ready for
sale.  It should go on the market next week so things should slow down a
little for us.  (pray for a quick sale!!)
