[GreenKeys] Modems, CCU's and Tractor feed issues

No offense but it took a while to figure out how to subscribe to the list.
;)

So anyways, a few months ago I became the owner of a Marsland rebadged model
33 ASCII mode teletype. Came with the console module, the tractor feed
option for 8 1/2" paper (Where the heck do you even find that now???) and
the UCC-21 rotary dial CCU with external PSU for the paper tape reader.
Unfortunately it didn't come with a pedestal so I had to fabricate a new one
and find a replacement chad bucket. While it's nice having the console
module I want to use the CCU instead and hang a modem off that.
Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation on how the CCU would of
interfaced with the old 110 baud Bell 110 modems. Was it really just current
loop? I can see that the later 103 modems had some sort of D-sub 25
connection (god knows if that was RS-232 or something) but those are 300
baud and too fast. I have however found a few modems that still support the
Bell 101 110 baud standard. The original Smartmodem is one of them however
they are all RS-232 and the the teletype is very much a current loop device.
If I just attached it with a current loop adapter I would be entering
commands directly from the keyboard and not usig the CCU. At a quick glance
(and again, if the documentation and interfacing info was available I'd love
to read it) I can see that it's really just a telephone with no handset.
There's a buzzer to indicate ringing, the rotary dial is for starting the
call and the four buttons are for turning the teletype and modem on and off,
putting the modem off hook, setting the teletype to local mode only and
putting it back on hook. Any information on this would be very much
appreciated.
Really it's just a remote control for the modem when it was stored in the
pedestal. If I knew how it worked I could use a microcontroller to translate
button pushes into hayes commands so I can simulate the original experience.
Another problem I ran into shortly after I got the machine was that the
tractor feed was slipping badly in a particular manner. If you did a line
feed and any time after you had done that you press the comma key the
machine will constantly line feed until the cam lobe's high point on the
tractor feed pushes a lever up again. There's like three or four different
linkages that might be problematic but it's nearly 1AM and I can't rememebr
their names. If it helps I have the service manual for the teletype with
three or four extra pages covering the tractor feed option. Might anyone off
the top of their heads know what might need to be adjusted?
