Hi
I have a UA14 TD, I assume it was slid into some kind of base (MTTY19 maybe?). I figured out the wiring on the base of the 14 unit so my questions are:
1 There is a 534 ohm resistor, one side goes to a slide contact, I will call this contact 1, the other side of resistor goes to contact 3, which contact 3 is also wired to tight tape stop control switch, other side of tight tape stop control switch goes to Tape Stop Magnet coil and other side of coil goes to slide contact 2.
Slide contact 4 & 5 are the A.C. for motor. Slide contact 6 is vacant.
Slide contact 7 goes to bottom tape (marking) contacts. Slide contact 8 goes to middle ring and slide contact 9 goes to top tape (spacing) contacts.
Question 1 is what would the resistor be used for and would there be any spark suppression across the tape contacts, like the keys of my M15TTY?
Are these units capable of running shad or only shadless tapes?
I down loaded Teletype Bulletin No.141, issue 3 March 1942. Figure 1 & 2 are pictures of what my unit looks like.
Thanks
Norm

Rokumon Cat yet, has anyone else? Hope everything is OK with him.
