Far more people fall off ladders and end up with life-changing injuries (such as
paralysis) than fall off towers. That's true even if you correct for hours
climbing. With tower climbing there is training and serious protective
equipment, both prevention as well as protection from.
Tower work is tough work. Those big towers are taller than a skyscraper and
there is no elevator. You manually make that climb, and not just you, but you
wearing all the heavy protective gear, heavy clothes for protection from the
elements, tools, gloves, and any parts you need (even a one pound light bulb
makes a difference carrying it straight up 1800 feet). All movements are
restricted by the gear and you are working with gloves. You better be in good
shape.
