Here in Germany we either used the matching tuning fork or just
counted the characters printed in 10 seconds with a watch.

Just push one letter and use the repeat key (button) (....) and count....

For 60 wpm (45 bauds) the machine has to print 60 character in 10 seconds.
as 45 bauds are 360 character per minute. 50 bauds are 400 characters a
minute.
