Real friendly and responsive folks. Looks like this is only 
going to cost around $60.

     FWIW, the first reference I saw to J.J.Short was in one 
of the typewriter mailing lists I belong to.  Since then 
there have been a number of posts there saying they did a 
great job.  The old standby for typewriters was Ames, who 
stopped re-doing platens after about a century.  J.J.Short 
seems to have filled in a definite need.
